Vimy Outdoor Pursuits (ODP) is a program based on fitness and adventure sport.

Student-athletes in this program have the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities as well as traditional sports to meet all of their fitness requirements. During the fall and spring, student-athletes in ODP will find themselves outside doing activities such as canoeing, hiking, fishing, biking as well as activities like flag football, soccer and baseball. In the winter months, student-athletes will focus on winter movement activities like snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, skiing/ snowboarding and skating. As well during the colder months, student-athletes will be indoors working on skills in traditional sports like volleyball, basketball and handball.

Each semester student-athletes in the ODP program will also venture out on a camp trip. This past year, student-athletes spent time snowshoeing in the backcountry in Kananaskis, as well as hiking to Whistlers peak in Jasper.

Throughout the school year, students will work on enhancing their functional fitness level as this is a fundamental component to all activities in the ODP program.

The Vimy Outdoor Pursuits program is led by Rob Schmidt. Rob brings a wealth of experience to this program having worked for AAD in both the Hockey and the Sport Fit programs.
