Facilities at Vimy Lacrosse

Student-Athletes at Vimy Lacrosse have access to the world-class facilities on the Vimy campus. Using these facilities, our student-athletes work every day on “Becoming More” both on and off of the field or floor.

Field

In the fall and the spring, Vimy Lacrosse uses the field on the Vimy Ridge Campus, located steps from the school for their on-field instruction. In the fall, Vimy Lacrosse focuses on field lacrosse with an emphasis on skill development and tactical play. When Vimy Lacrosse returns to field lacrosse in the spring, the instructional emphasis turns to game situations.

Floor

In the winter months, Vimy Lacrosse transitions into the East Side and South Side Soccer Centres as well as the Turf Centre. The instructional focus in the winter months is on box lacrosse. Vimy Lacrosse runs two separate floors each lacrosse day, floors are split based on daily curriculum. Each day on the floor is a high-tempo practice with strong focus on fundamentals, tactical play and game situations.

Fitness Centre

The fitness centre at Vimy Ridge Academy consists of state of the art equipment that has been hand chosen to maximize the benefit to our student-athletes in order to optimize their athletic development.

Part of the Vimy Lacrosse curriculum includes a systematic approach to training whereby student-athletes learn movement patterns throughout the school year that enhance their performance on the field and floor. A number of training parameters are explored including increasing power, speed, balance, strength, coordination, agility and flexibility.

Spin Room

In the spring of 2011, 36 Keiser M3 bikes were installed in the bike room, located adjacent to the fitness centre, providing another space for Vimy student-athletes to work on their fitness level.

A comprehensive spin bike curriculum has been developed to educate student-athletes on how to train different energy systems within the body. Log sheets have been developed to instruct the student-athletes on how to effectively track their heart rate and manage their training zones to achieve their fitness goals.
