Vimy

Ray grew up in Long Beach, California and attended Cal State University winning the State Championship in 1970. His professional career was highlighted as a top pitcher in the Kansas City Royals organization at the minor league level for 4 years. After being released in the 1975 season, he then decided to move to Edmonton, AB where he served as a player/coach with the Edmonton Tigers, before winning the Senior National Baseball Championship in 1978.
During his 50 plus years in baseball not only has he coached various teams in Alberta but also assisted in developing many baseball programs in the Oceania Region, of which New Zealand and Australia are members. He has also managed teams in the Western Canadian Baseball League, the Edmonton Prospects from 2014 to 2018, leading them to 3 consecutive Division Championships as well as 2 final Championship series berths, as well as the Fort McMurray Oil Giants from 2019 to 2022. He is currently serving as the bench/pitching coach for the West Coast Summer Collegiate League’s Edmonton Riverhawks.
Ray has been involved with the Vimy Ridge Academy High School Baseball/Softball Program since the year 2018, and is excited to be back as he sees how vital the marriage of academic as well as sports programming are for their overall growth and development as young people.
