
Orv grew up near Wandering River and became a standout player who earned a scholarship to Pepperdine University. After an injury ended his playing career, he shifted into teaching and coaching, eventually serving as Technical Director for Baseball Alberta and coaching Team Canada internationally.
His professional coaching career included roles with the Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, and San Diego Padres affiliates. He contributed to the Red Sox historic 2004 World Series win, becoming the first person from the Prairie Provinces to earn a World Series ring.
Orv later returned home to manage the Edmonton Capitals to a league championship and continued coaching locally with Edmonton programs. His passion for teaching and developing athletes has influenced generations.
