Hello! My name is Jordie Richardson and I am excited to be part of the Vimy Ringette academy this year. Born and raised in St. Albert, I grew up playing a variety of sports but focused on ringette, water polo, gymnastics, and volleyball. My athletic journey with ringette began at age five, and I continue to compete today with the University of Alberta Alumni team in the Open A division. While I once played in the National Ringette League (NRL) for the Rush, I found the commitment too demanding alongside my teaching career and now enjoy the competitive yet more balanced level of play. I coached water polo nationally and internationally for 15 years, up until I completed my Master’s degree in Education in June of 2024.
After 11 years at Donnan, where I taught Grade 5, was part of the Sport Fit program, and eventually became director of the SF program, I’m excited to begin my first year at Vimy. I’m particularly thrilled to see my former Donnan students grow and thrive. At Vimy, I’ll be teaching math and science, and of course, teaching in the Vimy Ringette Program. Promoting the sport for long-term play and enjoyment is incredibly important to me, and I’m eager to build a strong foundation of teamwork and friendship within the program. Above all, I hope to inspire physically literate individuals who appreciate the lifelong importance of sport and physical activity.
When I’m not in the classroom or on the rink, I love spending time outdoors with my two dogs, Neville and Ronix, and my partner. We enjoy golfing together (and I’m proud to say I often win!), wake surfing, and traveling to warm destinations. I also love spending time at the family cabin, where I get to relax and recharge with loved ones.
