His program was recently featured in “Jiu-Jitsu Style” magazine in an article highlighting the correlation between martial arts and self-confidence and the impact martial arts has on students’ academic and social experiences at school. Curtis has been featured in local media (T.V. & Print) and speaks at anti-bullying events, sharing his passion for bullying prevention and empowerment.

Curtis is also the co-founder of the bully prevention program “Shift the Power.” This program uses practical and functional self-defense techniques, including situational awareness, verbal/non-verbal messaging, and if necessary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu self-defense techniques to increase students’ self-confidence and awareness. This results in a more compassionate and empathetic school culture.

Curtis played NCAA hockey during his University career and has been in martial arts for over 16 years. He has helped numerous children develop a sense of identity and overcome bullying, successfully moving on with their lives.
