AAD Hiring Strength & Conditioning Coach at Vimy Ridge Academy

Academic and Athletic Development, the parent society for many of the sports-alternative academies at Vimy Ridge Academy is now hiring for the position of Strength & Conditioning Coach at Vimy Ridge Academy.  This posting is open for applications as of today (June 7th, 2024) and will be open until June 21st, 2024.

Job Title: AAD Strength & Conditioning Coach

Location: Vimy Ridge Academy

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary-based position: Compensation and incentives based on experience and competencies

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide scope and sequence strength & conditioning programs that are age-appropriate for AAD student-athletes grades 7-12
  • Strong knowledge of Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) 
  • Provide movement regressions and injury management options as needed for student-athletes (possibly in accordance with other on-site practitioners) 
  • Organize & implement bi-annual fitness assessments for each academy (7-12)
  • Communicate & collaborate with program & teacher leads for each academy to enhance “sport-specific” training pedagogy  
  • Sole provider of written/electronic strength & conditioning information provided to AAD student-athletes. 
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to execute Sport Performance Modules 
  • Bi-annual inventory of AAD-owned equipment
  • Daily equipment maintenance to ensure safety and best practices are being met (launder towels, fill spray bottles etc.) 
  • Lead and direct staff in discussions about the execution of proper use of equipment and age-appropriate training methodologies 
  • Collaborate with Phys. Ed Department Head to determine weight room and fitness studio needs and maintenance 
  • Participate in the development, growth and vision of all AAD programs 
  • Participate in the recruitment of student-athletes and other clients 
  • Work within AAD and EPSB Policies and Code of Ethics 
  • Office hours are 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday through Friday
  • Attend staff meetings and other annual events as assigned by Campus Director and Executive Director (ie. Open House, AAD Garage Sales etc.) 
  • Preference given to Bachelor of Kinesiology graduates
  • First Aid and CPR certifications are required
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered
