Vimy Sport Fit’s Kirsten Attwood – Try Water Polo
Hi, my name is Kirsten Attwood. I am a grade 10 student at Vimy and I am in the Sport Fit program. Being in the Sport Fit program helped me to be a more active and high-intensity athlete, which pushed me to the sport of water polo.
Through the Sport Fit program I had the opportunity to participate in water polo and decided I wanted to join a club team. The photo above is of me playing water polo the Thunderbirds club that originated here in Edmonton and who also came and taught us in the Sport Fit program.
The Thunderbirds club is currently looking to recruit players that would like to try this sport. Water polo is a great way to make new friends and stay healthy and active. The Thunderbirds practice between 2-5 times a week depending on how competitive you are. We practice at Kinsmen sports center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 and at Terwillegar rec center on Thursdays at 6:30-8:00 and on Saturdays from 10:30-11:30 with an endurance swim after from 11:30-1:00. We also scrimmage at the Peter Hemmingway pool on Sundays from 12:00-1:00. Any skill level is wanted and the club is for both boys and girls ages 6-19, so if you are looking for a good time come on down and try water polo with the Thunderbirds.
